Upper school varsity boys volleyball won 3-0 at their home game against Los Gatos High School on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m., bringing them to an 5-1 record overall. This was the team’s first game in the new upper school athletic center.

Following timeouts called by Harker and by Los Gatos, the Eagles took the lead in the first set with a score of 25-17. Harker won the second set 25-16 and finished the third strong with a score of 25-10.

The head coach Chad Gordon believes the Eagles are increasing their level of play every game.

“I think we’re finding better ways to score, making fewer errors and when we get in tough spots, we play the ball the right way and either get it back or find a smart way to score,” Gordon said.

Players on the team find that they have improved their skills since the beginning of their season.

“I think that our team played pretty well overall,” Billy Fan (9) said. “We started a little nervous as it was our home opener, but eventually we loosened up and started playing much better. Additionally, now that we know one another much better, I think we’re able to have more fun on the court and thereby play better.”

The team’s next game will be away against Oak Grove High School this Friday at 6 p.m.
