The varsity boys soccer team shutout Woodside Priory School 3-0 in a home game last Wednesday, scoring two goals in the first half and a third in the second half.

“Even though we didn’t play our best today, we still were able to pull out a win,” center back Muthu Panchanatham (12) said. “It’s important that we learn from our mistakes and then just keep moving forward.”

After near goals by striker Justin Fung (12) at the 21-minute mark and striker Ishaan Mantripragada (12) two minutes later, Ishaan scored the first goal of the game with 16 minutes left in the first half. With around two minutes left, left midfielder Jack Yang (10) tacked on another score off a corner kick from right back defender Caden Lin (12).

The Eagles came out of the gates strong in the second half, with Justin scoring the third goal two minutes into the period.

“At the end, it was really tiring, but everyone pushed hard at the end and then got the result,” Jack said.

Both Muthu and varsity boys soccer assistant head coach Mitchell Angeles thought that the game started off slow.

“We had more control into the second half, more of the Harker style that we’re looking for,” Angeles said. “At that point, when or when goals are coming in, it’s just about killing the game.”
