The junior varsity boys soccer team played hard in a scoreless draw against Yerba Buena High School at home on Dec. 16.

From the moment the game started at 4:30 p.m. on Davis Field, the Eagles launched into action and maintained their momentum throughout, ending the match with a draw. Defensive midfielder Saahil Thoppay (12) remarks at the success of the Eagles’ defense, which did not concede a single goal, and notes a few areas of improvement for the team going into the rest of the season.

“I think in our defense we can move up as a line together more to make sure that the other team is offside when they try to make a play,” Saahil said. “On our offense, I think we should move up a bit more so that we can have more players trying to score a goal.”

Center-back Jason Monaghan (11) comments on several highlights of the team’s performance.

“We did a lot better on offense — we had a lot more possession, more chances to score,” Jason said. “I think we did better on defense too — we held a clean sheet for the first time this season, which is nice. Better offense, better overall.”

The junior varsity boys soccer team will next play in an away game against Menlo School tomorrow at 4:15 p.m.
