On Monday, May 14, the San Jose Stage Company announced the nominations for this year’s Stage Top Honor Awards, with the intention of celebrating excellence in high school musical theatre.

The Upper School production of The Drowsy Chaperone was nominated for eleven awards, including awards for Best Show, Best Ensemble, and Direction. In addition, students Cristina Jerney (11), Noel Witcosky (12), Tristan Killeen (12), Lauren Pinzas (12), and Govinda Dasu (12), were nominated for Featured Performer, Leading Actress, Leading Actor, Supporting Actress, and Supporting Actor, respectively. Brian Larsen was nominated for Lighting Design, and Laura Lang-Ree was nominated for Direction.

Winners of the 2012 Stage Top Honor Awards will be announced at the Gala Ceremony on Monday, June 4 in downtown San Jose at the California Theatre. Winners of the Best Actress and Actor awards will continue to the National Musical Theatre Awards in New York City.
