“I want my purpose in life to be to create lasting change. If, in the future, Im able to take a piece of me and some research that I do and put it into a business — even if it doesnt become some ridiculously famous thing — if I can change one persons life with that ... and have it be like a domino effect and create something else in the world, then I feel like everything that Ive done, all the sweat, blood and tears that go into this kind of work, is all going to be worth it. Because at the end of the day, the point is to make life better for somebody. I feel like my point would be to make a change for the better in the world,” Aditi Ghalsasi (12) said.

“[Riding motorcycles] really showed me that it doesnt matter what I want to do, as long as I put my mind to it, I can really get to know the task and become good at it. When we go on group rides with my dad and my brother . . . we have to learn our own weaknesses and each others weaknesses. And thats a big part of understanding, first of all, who we are and how we are able to interact with each other in a new environment,” William Rainow (12) said.

“I would say I am not at all somebody who thinks in the long term. If I had to define a goal that I think is even possible for me to follow or that I would even be interested in pursuing is just to never be bored, stave off boredom,” Vani Mohindra (12) said.

“People made a place for me on student council and on journalism. . . I want to make that place for other people as well. I think anyone can be a representative, anyone can write for the school newspaper, any can put their voice out if they want to. It just takes time and nurturing and the reassurance that youre able to do it. . . . I hope that as a leader I can bring that to other people. There are different types of leaders out there, and everyone deserves a chance to develop their own leadership style, Katherine Zhang (12) said.

“I express myself through my energy and laughter, and that ties into the music I produce. The music that I make reflects the emotions within me. Whenever I play I’m always jumping on the keys. I put all my positive energy into it. That’s why I mostly play happy songs, not like sad slow songs, Ihita Mandal (12) said.

“I always tended to be an empathetic person. Even when someones texting style changes, I can always tell if theyre angry or sad. That sort of started when I started becoming better with my mental health. I started realizing when people around me are stressed. I wanted to cull that. I think everyone needs of extra support, and if I can be there for someone, then I should. I don’t think of it as a responsibility. I feel like its something as a person you should consider doing for others, Raphael Sanche (12) said.
