Jazz groups from both the Upper School and the Middle School performed in An Evening of Jazz yesterday at the Blackford Theater at 6 p.m.

The event featured the Upper School’s lab and jazz bands, directed by upper school instrumental teachers David Hart and Christopher Florio, respectively, and two middle school jazz bands.

Jazz at Harker has been a part of my Harker experience ever since I came here, so I really think An Evening of Jazz is really important because it is a way for people doing jazz at Harker to have fun,” lab band member Bryan Wang (9) said. “Their friends can just come and listen to them. It’s overall a really important part of Harker culture.”

The next event for the upper school performing arts department is the orchestra’s trip to New York for their performance at Carnegie Hall on March 24.
