Kathy Fang, Editor-in-Chief

Kathy Fang (12) is the editor-in-chief of Harker Aquila. This is her fourth year on staff. From covering local marches and protests to initiating Harker Aquila’s 2020 Elections coverage project in January 2019, Kathy hopes to continue bridging the worlds of national news and student journalism, one story at a time. Beyond journalism, she is a performer, student director, humanities scholar and, above all, an aspiring storyteller.

“Use your voice. Speak your mind, because that's what this country is about, that's what life's about, that's what our world has come to be about. Speak your mind, and listen to others. But vote—most importantly vote," Haris Hosseini (12) said.

"Have something that you can go outside and experience. I don’t think enough people realize the opportunities they have here in California. The nature we have here - it’s probably top-class and it’s probably not going to get any better anywhere else you go. And I think that people should take advantage of that, while they have it," Krish Kapadia (12) said.

“That's the good thing about basketball; it's very much like life. You make a shot, and you feel good; and you miss a shot, and you feel bad. It's a really sporadic but also you can depend on it happening. You know the oscillation between a climax and a low point is going to happen and it's always like that. Whenever you feel proud, you always know you will feel down in the future, and you just have to ride that wave," Richard Wang (12) said.

“Everyone’s stronger than they give themselves credit for. It’s super important for every one of us, who are all super scared, to get out of our own heads. We need to realize that the reason we are sitting there being scared when there’s things we could be doing to make out lives better is just a matter of breaking down personal boundaries," Viveka Saraiya (12) said.

“I look to music to kind of explain things about myself that I can’t explain with thoughts or words, just these kind of questions that I have about life. When I listen to music, those things become clear to me, not in a logical sense -- but you can kind of feel why life is worth living," Alex Rule (12) said.

It has really always just brought me a peace of mind no matter what I'm doing," Connie Xu (12) said.
