The varsity boys soccer team crushed Eastside College Preparatory 5-0 during their senior night game on Feb. 5.
At 3:15 p.m., the team held a ceremony honoring their six seniors: Ryan Barth, Ben Cha, Alex Guo, Jason Monaghan, Dhruv Trivedi and Jack Yang. The seniors received flower bouquets and personalized posters from teammates, friends and family members.
“I’ll definitely miss the seniors,” midfielder Cyrus Ghane (10) said. “They’re great to have on the team, they’re solid players and we’re definitely going to miss them.”
Co-captain and defender Ryan Barth (12) kicked off for Harker, and co-captain and attacking midfielder Jack Yang (12) scored a goal in the first two minutes of the game. With only one attempt from Eastside on the home goal, which goalie Dhruv Trivedi (12) blocked, Harker maintained their offensive game. Jack led the attack and continued his scoring streak, making his second goal of the first half.
Ryan attempted to shoot but collided with the Panther’s goalie before netting a goal, receiving a foul for the Eagles. Co-captain and striker Ben Cha (12) successfully tallied a goal before halftime, leading the Eagles into the break 3-0.
Harker continued their high press but received more resistance from Eastside throughout the second half. Jack’s goal in the last 20 minutes broke up the pace of the game, and Ben landed Harker’s fourth goal shortly afterward.
Jack closed the game out with his third goal of the game, ending with the Eagles’ 5-0 victory. After the match, Jack commented on the thrill of playing his senior night game after four years representing the Eagles.
“It’s just surreal,” Jack said. “For the past three years, I’ve been seeing past seniors graduate, having this awesome day. It’s always full of high spirits and fun, and I’m just really glad that I was able to experience that today.”
Head coach Ryan Masch applauded the seniors’ commitment to the team and their efforts during the game.
“It was a good opportunity for the seniors to get a lot of game minutes and play in some positions they normally don’t play,” Masch said. “It was really focused on them today. They’re good leaders among the team and set a good example for the underclassmen. Today was really all about them, and they showed up and performed.”
The team currently carries a 8-10-1 overall season record. They face Sacred Heart Preparatory in a home game on Friday at 3 p.m.

![“I wasn't discouraged by some of the obstacles we faced. I learned a lot from the leadership. I found that different people need different ways of receiving feedback — you can't [just] tell them to do something and expect the best. [Some] people needed more incentive. A large part of my role was to figure out what worked for everyone and to figure out how to lead all these separate individuals as a team,” Suhana Bhandare (’26) said.](https://harkeraquila.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/SuhanaBhandare_JasmineHansra-1-1200x798.jpg)

That's what I've always been able to do with tennis, Link Crew and getting that internship [with Kushy Baby]. It’s important pushing through that — getting around that brick wall, climbing over it or clawing through it,” Yash Sachdeva (’26) said.](https://harkeraquila.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/YashSachdeva_RamBatchu-copy-1200x1002.jpg)

The process [of] making a build complete to your desire is such a painstakingly difficult process, but I've had to learn from [the skills needed from] soldering to proper painting. There's so many different options for everything, if you think about it, it exists. The best part is [that] if it doesn't exist, you can build it yourself," Ishaan Parate said.](https://harkeraquila.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/DSC_8149-900x604.jpg)

It helped me overcome my fear of public speaking, and it's played such a major role in who I've become today. I know that there's a lot of people that are really confident in what they do, and I really admire them.
