Keller’s Korner – October 25

The week featured a variety of successes among sports teams and many activities sponsored by the Speech and Debate program to celebrate its week.

“This past week we’re highlighting two sports teams: the cross country team, boys and girls, and the polo teams,” Head of the Upper School Butch Keller said. “It’s really exciting to look at what they’re doing and the rewards they are getting. The success that the cross country team is seeing is just a whole lot of fun.”

Niki Iyer (9) finished in first with the fifth fastest time run by a freshman in the history of the course. Corey Gonzales (11) finished in second place. The boys’ Varsity water polo team beat Santa Clara, while the girls’ team lost by a narrow margin of 8-7.

“I also like when clubs have a week,” Keller said. “It’s a lot of fun when the speech club does something. Yesterday was really cool with the [United Nations] flags around campus.”

Throughout the week, the Speech and Debate team held many events in the first ever Speech and Debate week. Events included “Spreading” or speed-reading, Model UN Day, Congress debates, and public speaking workshops.
