The Varsity Football team lost its homecoming game against Mount Pleasant 26-52 on Friday.

Though Mount Pleasant took an early lead in the game, the Eagles tried to battle back throughout the game. Touchdowns were scored by Keanu Forbes (11), Kevin Moss (12), and Adarsh Battu (12). Additionally, Alyssa Amick (11) scored two extra points.

“[Since it was our] first game, it was kind of tough. However, I was very happy with the way we worked.” Battu said.

The Eagle fans cheered on their team, waving green and white pom-poms, holding up posters, and being led in “white, white, white, white, a green-green-green-green-green,” cheers by the cheerleaders. In addition, the cheerleaders performed a routine at halftime hoping to raise the spirits of the crowd and players alike.

Other highlights of the night included the crowning of Homecoming King and Queen, Adithram Rengaramachadran (12) and Renu Singh (12), performances by the Varsity Dance Troupe and Lower School cheerleaders, and a pre-game tailgate party for the alumni and parents.

After the game, the team gathered and listened to coach Ron Forbes, who gave them words of encouragement and advice.

“Every single game is becoming very special at this point. Knowing that I’m a senior and that this is my last year of football hit hard, and now I’m just squeezing everything that I can out of this football season,” Samir Chaudhry (12) said. “But, most important of all is just getting to play out on that field with my brothers.”

The game was followed by the homecoming dance the next evening, concluding the homecoming festivities. The team plays St. Francis Watsonville next Friday, October 4, at 7:00 p.m. for senior night.
