Football team to play school from Alberta, Canada

On Friday, September 23rd, the JV and Varsity football teams will be playing against Cochrane High School, a team from Alberta, Canada.

This game promises to be “a good, competitive game,” said Upper School athletics director, Dan Molin, as the school is not a local one.

Head Coach, Karriem “K” Stinson said, “It should be a fun game for both teams. It is non-league […] we feel it will be a challenge for us to see if we can compete with a talented team.”

As the game is the first of three leading into league games, there is some anticipation surrounding it. However, beyond that, “it’s US versus Canada, in our minds at least, ” said Saagar Sarin (12). ”There’s definitely a sense of anxiety to it. You don’t want to be the team that loses to team Canada.”

The teams are not preparing for their games any differently than they would, if it were a local team. However the opposing team’s style of play is expected to be unique, because of the different rules in Canada. But, Cochrane High School will be adapting to play by the American Rules, as they have in the past when playing other U.S teams.

The JV team will play at 4:30 PM, with Varsity playing at 7:00 PM.
