Keller’s Korner – 3/28

Kellers Korner - 3/28

The past week had both the annual HOSCARs talent show and the multicultural fair. Meanwhile, the boys’ volleyball team and the boys’ golf team both have significant wins.

This has been a fun week. We’ve had the HOSCARs, that’s just fun, and the MIT Logarhythms as a surprise at the end made it even more exciting as far as i was concerned. I thought the students did a great job, and the adults involved did a good job too. It was a lot of fun, and I think everybody enjoyed the ice cream. The two teams that have had such a great week – the volleyball team that defeated undefeated Lynbrook at the time which was 13-0 and the golf team which remains undefeated, number one in the league, is exciting too. The multicultural fair was good. Everybody seemed to enjoy that, so it’s been a good week.

The annual HOSCARs event took place on the Thursday, featuring a Star Wars theme and emcees Kenneth Zhang (12) and Efrey Noten(12). Noa Sasson (9) won the award for best solo performance for her poi routine. Additionally, the faculty’s performance of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” won the teachers the best group performance. Varun Cherukuri’s (12) Michael Jackson impersonation won him the best overall award. The acapella group, the MIT Logarhythms, made a surprise appearance at the awards ceremony.

Both the Varsity boys’ volleyball team and the Varsity boys’ golf team have had successful weeks. Before playing the Eagles, the Lynbrook volleyball team was undefeated. That changed when the Eagles beat the Vikings 3-1, with match sets of 28-26, 25-19, 20-25, and 25-15. The golf team is currently undefeated and is placed first in league.

During Wednesday long lunch, the Multicultural Fair was held in the Nichols Atrium. Booths represented 10 countries such as India, Germany, Canada, and Lebanon. Students and faculty who visited booths got the chance to try authentic food and drinks from that part of the world.
