Ever since I started high school, I’ve felt a constant need to be productive. Every free hour that wasn’t spent checking something off my to-do list and every second I don’t spend working toward a more impressive resume or a perfect transcript is time wasted. However, I found myself wondering, is that really the right way to think?
Breaks are for recovery, yet many students feel compelled to stay productive even when no work is assigned. That mindset leaves students returning to school drained.

Breaks now feel like falling behind

While my teachers assigned little work and encouraged us to relax, many of my friends never really stopped working at all, instead tackling work for the second semester.
Dark chocolate contains cocoa flavonoids, plant compounds that have been linked to improvements in cognitive ability. Researchers believe that these flavonoids support brain function by increasing blood flow and promoting more efficient neural activity.

If you have ever justified eating dark chocolate by calling it “healthy,” you might finally have a real excuse: it turns out your brain might like it as much as your taste buds do. A study published in May this year showed that dark chocolate may offer short-term benefits, like temporarily boosts in personal memory, reaction time, spatial memory and visual processing.
Apps like Clearspace focus on setting limits on screen time, adding a layer of intentionality to device usage. When opening an app blocked by Clearspace, users first receive a message to breathe in and out for up to fifteen seconds so that they can reevaluate whether they want to use the app or not.
