Medha Yarlagadda (12) is a co-managing editor for Harker Aquila, and this is her fourth year on staff. This year, she hopes to work more closely with the staff while capturing stories of the school community. In her free time, she can be found cooking or baking, reading or trying new cafes.

"I think fashion has shaped who I am, because it has taught me a lot about finding my own voice, not being influenced by other people’s thoughts. Being able to choose from so many different things has also helped me build more consistent decision making skills while also becoming more comfortable in my own skin. With fashion, 60% of the art is self expression: you can make anything and you can interpret anything in any way. I like that a lot, because it just gives me a way to interpret how I want to express myself and how I feel about myself," Callie Yuan ('24) said.

"Music is something I can talk about with strangers; everyone around the world listens to music. It's so easy to connect with people through a favorite song or artist. Music is a universal language that brings people together. I think that it can also be so empowering. It's so cool how an artist can write a song about something they're going through and billions of people around the world can relate," Nila Dharmaraj (12) said.

"In all the things that I do, with theater, journalism, and choir, it’s interesting to me how they all give me a window into the real world. I think that sometimes we all get bogged down in negativity but I think the projects that I work on have a real impact on the community. It's inspiring to me and it reminds me that there's a real possibility for change," Selina Xu (12) said.
