The San Francisco Giants now prepare to play the Chicago Cubs at AT&T Park tomorrow evening after losing yesterday’s MLB Division Series game 5-2 to the Cubs at Wrigley Field and dropping to 0-2 in the best-of-five matchup.

If the Giants lose the game tomorrow, their playoff run and season will come to an end. However, if they win, they will face the Cubs again on Tuesday to continue their run in the postseason.

The Giants gained their spot in the playoffs after winning the highly-rated wildcard game against the New York Mets 3-0 on Oct. 5 because of the stakes of the game regarding which team would move on to the next round of the playoffs.

In yesterday’s game, pitcher Jeff Samardzija starred in his first playoffs appearance as a starter after joining the Giants in 2014 in a trade with the Cubs.

Six Giants pitchers came into the game totaling six strikeouts after Samardzija left after the broken-bat hit from Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks. Samardzija allowed four runs while pitcher George Kontos allowed one. Second baseman Joe Panik and outfielder Gregor Blanco scored the two runs of the game for the Giants.

Pitcher Madison Bumgarner will start in the game tomorrow after his four-hit shutout against the Mets on Oct. 5.

For the Cubs, advancing to the next round of the playoffs would be record-breaking since the team last won the World Series in 1908 and hasn’t made an appearance in the World Series since 1945.
