The girls lacrosse team lost to a competitive Gunn High School 19-0 at 4:30 p.m. on Davis Field today.

With two players out due to injury and two more not present because of the State DECA Conference, the team was short four players today as they took on a tough team.

Defender Priyanka Taneja (11) spoke about how the team plans to move forward in spite of a rough 0-3 start to the season.

“We’re just going to get really hard working during practice and we’re really going to give it our all,” she said. “I know we can persevere if we try our best, and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season.”

In the second half, the eagles improved their defense, as they held Gunn to less scoring than in the first half as sophomore goalie Aislinn Coveney blocked more attempted shots.

Alayna Richmond (11), co-captain and team member since freshman year, commented on her takeaways from the tough game today and how the team plans to improve in similar situations in the future.

“I learned that when we’re playing strong teams, we need to keep a positive mindset and that every time there’s a time out or halftime, we just go in and restart as if the score is 0-0,” Alayna said.

The team now prepares to play York High School at home on Friday.
