Freshmen Connie Xu serves the ball at the first game of the freshmen girls’ volleyball season. The team looks forward to working with each other during practice.

Freshmen girls volleyball lost to Sacred Heart Preparatory School 0-2 in the first game of their season on Thursday. The girls lost the first set 15-25, but played a stronger second set. They lost the second 17-25, despite staying even in points until the end of the set.

Neha Tallapragada (9) led the team with five kills in the match.

“For the first game, I think we did a pretty good job,” player Cindy Wang (9) said. “Our main issue was probably organization and knowing what to do, because most of us are fairly inexperienced in the sport. We’ll be working all season on skills and techniques.”

The team still looks forward the the upcoming games and practices of the season.

“We all work well together and communicate well. It’s kinda cool how we just get to progress together and get better,” outside hitter Karen Krause (9) said.

The girls will play their second game against Milpitas High School at home on September 15 at 4 p.m.
