The Varsity boys’ basketball team lost 52-64 at Pinewood High School Friday night in front of a rowdy Panther crowd and a small but enthusiastic group of Eagle fans.

After falling behind 7 points to a score of 13-20 at the end of the first quarter, the scoring was tied in the second and third quarters. The boys could not complete their comeback, as they fell behind again in the final minutes of fourth quarter.

“Last year we had the same thing, we started league off slowly and we managed to get it together,” Dylan Patel (12) said. “We managed to get it together and I think we can do the same thing this year.”

Srivinay Irrinki (12) led the team in scoring with 20 points, followed by Eric Holt (12) with 18 and Dylan with seven. Eric also had nine rebounds, Justin Yen (12) had eight, and Elijah Edgehill (11) had five.

With this loss, the team holds an 8-6 overall record and a 1-3 league record. The boys play Eastside College Prep Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Blackford.
