Varsity boys’ soccer defeats Crystal Springs 5-2

The Varsity Boys’ soccer team emerged victorious from its game yesterday against Crystal Springs Uplands School, ending with a score of 5-2.

Shaun Tsakiris, Varsity coach, was proud of the team’s performance and congratulated the win.

“I’m so happy for the boys,” Tsakiris said. “This is just a perfect example of the guys working hard and being rewarded for it.”

The team ended the first half leading 2-0, with Nikhil Kishore (11) and Arjun Goyal (12) scoring the first two goals, respectively.

The second half brought more of a challenge for the team, as Crystal Springs scored two goals. The Eagles fought back, however, and ultimately won the game: the third and fifth goals were scored by Omar Hamate (10), while the fourth was scored by Jeremiah Anderson (11).

Team captain Kevin Moss (12) believed that players could have done better despite their three point win.

“It was a little bit sloppy. We had more opportunities than them,” Kevin said. “We got lucky with a couple goals, so we won.”

Midfielder Brandon Aguilar (11) was elated by the win, but also echoed Kevin’s sentiments. Brandon focused on areas where the team needed to improve, such as organization in the backfield.

“The game went pretty well on our side, but we had a lot more chances than them that we didn’t execute,” Brandon said.

The team is currently 3-1 in the West Bay Athletic League (WBAL). The Varsity boys will have their next home game on Wednesday, Jan. 22 against Menlo School at 3 p.m.
