This is Aquila Weekly Wrap Up, where we bring you the latest updates from around our school community.
Monday
Jazz Band and Orchestra played the piece “Malambo” from the ballet “Estancia” by Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera to honor Hispanic Heritage Month. Violin players ended the performance by circling their chairs while continuing to play, a nod to the original ballet.
Art Club hosted a Bob Ross paint-along, where students painted landscapes while following a Bob Ross tutorial during lunch.
UNICEF invited club members to write birthday cards for foster youth and learn about the Braid Mission, a Bay Area project to create supportive communities for foster youth.
Wednesday
LIFE Board held the preliminary rounds of their 2v2 badminton tournament, with students playing for Exercise Month. The final round will take place during school meeting on Oct. 31.
Friday
TEDxHarker hosted its annual speaker event with three TED-style talks and a variety of entrepreneurial booths in the Patil Theater on Friday. Entrepreneur and music artist Mike Wallz, fashion influencer Drew Joiner and senior Savya Agarwal gave speeches in line with the event’s theme of “unfiltered.”
SAB and HSLT visited the Spina Farms Pumpkin Patch to choose pumpkins for the annual pumpkin carving contest.
