Keller’s Korner – 2/28
Japan Club week, the annual AP studio art exhibit, and the first ever Night on the Town were the highlights of the past week.
It appears that everyone has enjoyed Japanese week. Every time I’ve seen the club, there have been people around doing things, having a good time, so I’ve been pleased watching that. The art exhibit, I think it’s hard for me to say it gets better every year, but the quality of the work that are students are doing is phenomenal and some of the pieces that are there this year are quite amazing. I really do like the photography and the water colors. Night on the Town is going to be a lot of fun, and we’re all looking forward to that.
Japan club’s week featured a wide variety of activities. On Monday, students had the option to make “onigiri,” or rice balls. Tuesday and Thursday featured calligraphy and origami. During long lunch, the club showed a screening of a Japanese anime, and the week ended with a day for Japanese sweets.
The annual AP Studio Art exhibit was held Wednesday at long lunch featuring 2-D and 3-D designs in multiple concentrations including photography, sculpture, drawings, and paintings. The event also coincided with the birthday of AP Art teacher, Jaap Bongers’ birthday.
The first ever Night on the Town gala was held last Friday in place of the annual fashion show. Although the event retained the traditional live auction and dinner, the show was far different than previous years, even including faculty singers and musical talent.
