Students and faculty wrapped up Culture Week on Friday with performances in the Zhang Gymnasium and street food bites during lunch. Take a look at how students shared their cultural traditions with the community through song, dance, food and more.
Jonathan Szeto, STEM Editor: The community wrapped up Culture Week with culture performances in the Zhang Gymnasium and a street food fair during lunch. Performances included songs, poems and Bollywood and dragon dances.
Rishi Lalwani (12): Oh, I think it went really well. All of the performances were really cool to watch, and I think our performance was really fun to practice and go through with it at the actual performance.
Jonathan: During lunch, members of the community sampled food bites from student-run booths across campus. The food options encompassed cuisines like Greek, Persian and Vietnamese and included the Indian dessert ladoo, vegetarian spring rolls and fried shishito peppers.
Ava Alvarez (10): I was a part of the Greek booth, and we served spanakopita. Spanakopita is puff pastry filled with spinach and feta cheese. I think it’s important that people try out different foods so that they’re exposed to different cultures and new flavors. I thought it was really fun, I thought it was really well run, and I thought it’s just nice to see what people and what cultures are at Harker.
Jonathan: We hope you enjoyed Aquila’s coverage of Culture Week. Thank you for watching!
