This is Aquila Weekly Wrap Up, where we bring you the latest updates from around our school community.
Saturday
The annual Homecoming dance invited students for a night of music and festivity in the Auxiliary Gym. The DJ played songs from a student-suggested playlist curated by HSLT, shuffling through viral tracks like “FE!N” by Travis Scott, nostalgic 2010s songs like “Baby” by Justin Bieber and slow tunes like “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez.
Thursday
Students participated in a lockdown drill following school meeting, where they practiced classroom barricading procedures in their sixth period classes.
Book Blog held their annual book swap on Thursday and Friday, inviting students to trade old books for new ones during lunch and after school. Titles ranged from fantasy books like Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” series to poetry books by Shel Silverstein.
Make our Schools Safe Club invited students to paint rocks and create a community art piece to express their ideas about what safety looks like.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” this year’s fall play, had its opening night on Thursday in the RPAC at 7 p.m., with two more shows on Friday and Saturday.
That’s all for this week. See you next time!
