Prom for juniors and seniors will take place at Winchester Mystery House from 8-11 p.m. on April 23, according to an announcement sent out by community service director and activities coordinator Kerry Enzensperger last Thursday, March 10.

Similar to previous years’ celebrations, the event will be held outside, and activities planned include the usual dance with a DJ as well as photo-taking sessions, mystery house tours and lawn games. No outside guests will be allowed this year.

“There was a lot of concern about preserving the possibility of prom,” said senior class adviser and upper school English teacher Christopher Hurshman. “It was precisely because prom was perceived as really important, to the upper-class in particular: there are all sorts of extra little rituals that are connected to prom that make it feel like a crowning achievement or a rite of passage that you are experiencing as you approach graduation.”
