A smudge to the left. No, the right. Maybe try relaxing your hands. Perfect – except one little thing. That beard needs to go.
Shaving facial hair is only one of the multiple accommodations that teachers made for the annual journalism teacher recreate portrait project. As part of a traditional annual project, Advanced Journalism students were assigned to recreate a portrait taken by a well-known photographer. Through these photos, students brought back classic photos of iconic photographers such as Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, and more, often featuring well-known subjects of the likes of Meryl Streep, Marilyn Monroe, and Albert Einstein.
The students approached their respective teachers with a specific portrait to recreate. After finalizing their selection, special adjustments like the aforementioned were made to emulate the original portrait as closely as possible.
Good, the beard is gone. Now, do that thing that you did earlier with your face. Snap. Perfect.
Fostering a student-teacher relationship and showing a new side of the teacher’s personality outside of the classroom, the recreate portrait project bonds the community. Portraits are shown in the Main office for all to view, along with other environmental portraits of family, self, and friends. The photos will be exhibited until near the end of the school year.
