9:00 p.m. The game ends with an incomplete pass from Vijay. The final score is 34 – 6, and keep an eye out for more game recaps on Harker Aquila.
8:56 p.m. With two minutes left in the fourth quarter and a running clock, Vijay completes another pass to Rohan, who takes the ball down the field to the 50 yard line.
8:46 p.m. On the first play of the 4th quarter, the Vijay throws the ball to Marcus in the endzone for an Eagles’ touchdown. On the next play, the Eagles miss the PAT. The Mustangs still lead 28-6.
8:44 p.m. The Eagles offense continues to move the ball down the field, now 4 yards away from the end zone, but the clock stops as the 3rd quarter.
8:43 p.m. Another connection between Vijay and Rohan puts the ball at the Mustangs 17-yard line.
8:42 p.m. The Eagles convert on 4th and 2, and then hand it off to Devin who takes it to the Harker 49 yard line for a big gain.
8:39 p.m. On 3rd and 18, Vijay completes a 16-yard pass to Rohan. The Eagles will now go for it on 4th and 2 on their own 26-yard line, but call a timeout before doing so.
8:35 p.m The Eagles defense holds strong and forces an incompletion on 3rd down. The Mustangs will punt for the first time today.
8:33 p.m. The Mustangs receive the kickoff to start the second half, and they now have the ball at the Harker 35. The Eagles run defense has been superb to start the second half, and now the Mustangs are facing an imposing 3rd and 16.
8:25 p.m. The two teams race back onto the field after the halftime break.
8:18 p.m. Homecoming court now takes centerstage with two representatives from the class of 2021, 2022, and 2023, and six from the class of 2020 on the field. Grant Miner (12) and Kathy Fang (12) are crowned homecoming king and queen.
“It was a huge honor [to be part of homecoming court],” Yejin Song (10) said. “The entire court this year was so fun, and it was the most amazing experience ever.”
8:16 p.m. The juniors upset the seniors in tug of war after an intense twenty second battle.
8:14 p.m. The upperclassman race onto the field led by their class deans and line up on opposite sides of the rope.
8:12 p.m. Meanwhile, on the sidelines, the seniors, clad in black, and juniors, clad in white, are waiting for their tug of war matchup.
8:08 p.m. To kick off halftime, the upper school cheerleaders performed their routine filled with athletic and acrobatic cartwheels, flips, and more. Afterwards, the dance company put on a routine of their own, executed with perfect synchronization.
8:06 p.m. Vijay completes a deep pass to Rohan, but the clock runs out and the teams run back to the locker rooms for halftime.
8:03 p.m. The Eagles hand it off to Devin Keller who rushes for a huge gain, however, a 15-yard penalty brings the Eagles back to their own 20.
8:02 p.m. The Mustangs pick off a Harker pass and return it to the end zone for a touchdown, putting them up 34-0. They fail to convert the PAT.
7:58 p.m. The Mustangs throw a pass down in the middle into the end zone for their fourth touchdown and convert PAT, giving them a formidable 28-0 lead.
7:55 p.m. The Eagles call timeout, and the jazz band plays a short piece during the break.
7:52 p.m. On third down, the Eagles take a deep shot, but the ball falls through the receiver’s hand. Harker will punt. Five minutes remain in the second quarter.
7:50 p.m. Despite the Eagles getting off to a slow start, the crowd at Davis field is still energetic and buzzing with energy.
“Even though the team is a lot smaller than previous years, everyone is still very hopeful and in high spirits,” Sahil Gosain (12) said.
7:46 p.m. The Eagles run defense holds strong on 1st down. It is now 2nd and 8 for the Mustangs on the Harker 49 yard line.
7:42 p.m. The Eagles throw an incompletion and 3rd and 17 and punt the ball away to the Mustangs 38 yard line.
7:39 p.m. The Mustangs punch it in a for another score, but miss the two-point conversion. They now lead 21-0.
7:34 p.m. Harker throws an interception. It is Mustangs ball at the 50-yard line. The first quarter has ended, with the Mustangs up 15 – 0.
7:32 p.m. The Mustangs rush into the endzone for another touchdown, but miss the PAT. They now lead the Eagles 15-0.
7:29 p.m. The Mustangs recover a Harker fumble with the ball at the 40 yard line.
7:28 p.m. Nick Coulter (11) forced a fumble and the Marcus recovers at the Mustangs 40 yard line.
7:24 p.m On 3rd and 5 at their 25 yard line, Vijay threw a screen pass to wide receiver Rohan Varma (11) for a two yard gain. The Eagles will punt.
7:20 p.m. The Mustangs rush their way into the end zone for the touchdown and make the PAT (point after touchdown), putting them up 9-0.
7:18 p.m. Defensive lineman Marcus Anderson (11) tackles the Mustang quarterback after a 6 yard gain. The Mustangs are currently at the Harker 10 yard line.
7:16 p.m. The Eagles force an incompletion on second down. It is now 3rd and 4 with the Mustangs in possession.
7:14 p.m. Another long rush from the Mustangs puts the ball on the Harker 35 yard line.
7:12 p.m. The Mustangs rush for 15 yards and the first down on 2nd 10 at the their 35 yard line.
7:09 p.m. On fourth down, off a high snap, the Mustangs tackled Laszlo Bollyky (10) in the end zone for a safety, scoring the first points of the game. The Mustangs are up 2 – 0.
7:08 p.m. On third down, the Eagles hand it off to Devin Keller who is stopped for a short gain. The Eagles will punt.
7:06 p.m. Harker starts with the off the game at their 20 yard line with a handoff from quarterback Vijay Vyas (11) to running back Adheet Ganesh (10). On the second play of the game, Vijay rushes for a short game. It is now third down.
7:01 p.m. The crowd rises and the players from both teams have taken off their helmets for the National Anthem, sung by the members of the upper school choirs.
7:00 p.m. The Mustangs won the coin toss and have elected to kick the ball off, meaning that they will receive Harker’s kickoff at the start of the second half.
6:53 p.m. The Eagles football team runs onto the field, with the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs following shortly after.
6:39 p.m. The junior cheerleaders clad in green and the Eaglets dressed in their eagle costumes put on a cute pre-game performance for the crowd.
6:32 p.m. After a well-fought, 45-second long battle, the sophomores wore down the freshmen to take third place in the tug of war contest.
6:28 p.m. The deans are leading their classes out for the freshman vs. sophomore tug of war contest to determine third place as the jazz band plays on. There are about 500 people in attendance.
5:50 p.m. The Harker Eagles football team (1-2-1) is set to host the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs (6-1) for the annual homecoming game at 7 p.m. on Davis Field.
Before the game, the freshmen and sophomore classes will face off for third-place tug-of-war honors. Harker will also be inducting four new members into the athletic hall of fame ahead of the game, including Maverick McNealy (’13), Kristina Bither (’09), Adhir Ravipati (’13) and Chris Collins.
