The past week included events ranging from Performing Arts concerts, an animal show, and an update on the girls’ basketball team.
“We had well over 100 students involved, which is fantastic, at the two Performing Arts performances. I was [also] fascinated by the wildlife assembly put on by the ASB yesterday, and the fact that we had over 450 kids there,” said Butch Keller. “The girls’ basketball winning in overtime in such dramatic fashion was exciting.”
On Friday, January 13, the Upper School Orchestra and Jazz Band performed their Winter Concert along with the Middle School instrumental groups at the Mexican Heritage Center for an audience of almost 500 people. For the first time, the concert was held off-campus, allowing for a larger audience. Additionally, Bel Canto, Cantilena, Camerata, and featured conservatory soloists held their Winter Song Concert on Thursday, January 19 in Nichols Auditorium.
During extended advisory on Thursday, January 19, advisories were given the option of attending an animal show. More than 400 people showed up to watch a large variety of animals ranging from African porcupines to savannah cats. Meanwhile, other advisories chose the option of relaxing in classrooms or taking a field trip off campus.
The Varsity girls’ basketball team played two home games in the past week. The first was against King’s Academy on Tuesday, January 17, and resulted in a close loss for the Eagles with a final score of 49-52. However, the team played Castilleja School the next day and fought for a 49-48 victory. They will play Immaculate Conception Academy today, January 20.
More events to look forward to next week include Eagle Buddies and L.I.F.E. assemblies.
