This week consisted of an Upper School Open House, as well as updates on the varsity girls’ and boys’ soccer teams.
“The highlight of this week is the beginning of the winter sports season […] It’s just exciting to see a new season start for all the students,” said Upper School Division Head Butch Keller. “And of course everyone knows how important open houses are for the life of the school. Now we have an alumni parent coming to speak. It’s really heartwarming to hear what the students have to say.”
The Upper School Open House, held on Thursday, December 1 from 6:30 to 8:30, was the third one of the year. The session provides middle school students with the opportunity of viewing classes, programs, and opportunities at the Upper School before deciding to attend.
The varsity girls’ soccer team played their first game of the season on Tuesday, November 29 against Redwood Christian Junior-Senior High School. Resulting in a tie, the team began their season with a score of 2-2; both goals were scored by freshman Gabi Gupta.
The varsity boys’ soccer team held their first official game at Davis Field on Thursday, December 1. Playing against Mills High School, the varsity team defeated their opponents with a score of 3-1. The next game will be held on Thursday, December 8 against Wilcox High School.
More events to look forward to next week include holiday festivities at the Upper School and the annual performing arts show to celebrate the season.
