The varsity girls soccer team won their senior night game against Eastside College Preparatory, 5-1, yesterday.

The team ended the season with an 11-5-1 record, earning them second place in their league.

“Amazing camaraderie between the girls this year. Incredible commitment. Fantastic team leaders,” head coach Aman Siadat said. “Excellent harmony and chemistry amongst all the players, which translated into a much better season than the previous season.”

Last year, the team earned a 0-13-1 record. However, the girls stellar performance this year was commendable.

“Compared to last season, it’s a lot different because we lost every game [last season]. So we really came together as a team, and once we got our first win we started working a lot harder,” Lyndsey Mitchell (12) said.

Joelle Anderson (12), the game’s lead scorer, expressed her appreciation for her teammates and the team’s successful season.

“I’m actually really proud of how this season went. I’m really proud of our team and how we did…. and I’m just really glad we finished off with a win,” Joelle said.

Assistant Coach Andrew Ransome praised the girls on their performance this season.

“I think the season went very well from start to finish,” he said. “They put a lot of effort in, lot of heart, and I think they got what they deserved in terms of the results out there on the field.”

As the team’s seniors finish their last game on the Harker team, they take a moment to remember all the joyful experiences they had playing soccer in Harker.

“Well, this season was a lot of fun. It’s one of the best seasons I think I’ve ever played,” Maile Chung (12) said. “It’s just really sad that it’s all coming to an end, being a senior and playing with my friends since middle school. I’m really glad that we ended on this high note, winning, and it was just a lot of fun playing with my friends all this season.”

Some of these seniors are planning to continue playing soccer in their futures. Kailee Gifford (12), Lyndsey, and Joelle will all play soccer for their college teams.
