Pieology: DIY Pizza
January 24, 2017
Flavors explode in a whirlwind of pesto, spicy buffalo sauce, jalapeño and gooey mozzarella cheese. The freshness of green peppers, tomatoes, olives and mushrooms top off the sensational combination and give the pizza the perfect taste.
A branch of the fast-casual pizza chain Pieology, located on Cupertino’s Main Street, allows guests to create their perfect pizza by providing a wide variety of options for bases, sauces, cheese, toppings and seasoning.
Surrounded by many other eateries, restaurants and bakeries in Main Street, Pieology is accessible from Stevens Creek Boulevard and lies on the quieter side of the street.
Wooden paneling on the walls, metallic high rise tables and booths with gleaming white tables lie in the center of the restaurant. The fluorescent lighting from the low-rise ceiling and the visible piping above it give the restaurant a modern, futuristic ambience. Illuminated by the fluorescent lighting, murals cover the wooden-paneled walls and the wall above the drink fountain.
Pieology provides a DIY-experience for customers to create their pizza. First, customers choose their 11.5 inch crust, either white or whole wheat, and can also choose a gluten-free crust.
Customers then select a sauce for their pizza from seven different options, including red sauce, pesto and herb butter. After selecting their cheese from six different choices, customers can choose an unlimited number of toppings for their pizza, which include all-natural meat, spices and sixteen different vegetarian options. Diverse and rich in flavor, vegetarian topping options range from pineapples and jalapeños to roasted red peppers and basil leaves.
Customers can choose to eat at the restaurant or take their pizza to-go; if a customer selects the dine-in option, a server brings the pizza over to the customer’s table. The pizzas take under 20 minutes to bake, are served promptly and are not over- or under-cooked.
Along with the custom-made pie, Pieology offers pre made pizza options, salads, sides and fountain drinks.
A fast-casual pizza chain, Pieology has 16 locations in the Bay Area and 7 in the Sacramento Area. Other chains that provide similar build-it-yourself pizza experiences include Blaze Pizza and MOD Pizza.
