Jonathan Dai (11), Ankur Karwal (11), and Shay Lari-Hosain (11) set up cameras to film. Multimedia Club produces videos for many clubs across campus.

10 a.m., Monday morning. Students witness the Hulk rescue students from demonic academic pressures by transforming them into undefeatable superheroes and guiding them to a paradise—Sadies. Behind the video, the Harker Multimedia Club’s (MMC) tripod and camera snap into place as they set up to create a promotional video to showcase at school meeting.

The club produces videos and multimedia for clubs and organizations and mentors students who wish to learn photography and videography.

As presidents of the club, Shay Lari-Hosain (11) and Jonathan Dai (11) make most of the videos and lead most of the lectures.

“We have a filming session with who[m]ever requested the video so we take a day after school depending how long it has to be and how much we have to film,” Jonathan said. “Then we used to take a night or two, like Friday and Saturday, to edit the video and then we can just send them it.”

Other clubs requesting videos benefit both the Multimedia Club and themselves.

The other clubs get the benefit of having material design for them, which is really high quality and really nicely done. And our benefit is that we also get promotions so that more people see our material and come to our club as well.

The club took pictures during the Sadies Dance and set up a photo booth for the students under JCL and Key Club’s request. The club also can create posters if asked. Graphic Design Instructor Ankur Karwal (11) helps out with much of the filming and poster design.

“We have a lot of other videos in the pipeline that we’re working on because a lot of clubs have been asking us to really help them and we’re happy to do so,” he said. “What we tried to focus on is to give the people what they want.”

The senior goodbye project is one of the many projects they are working on.

“We also had an assembly, which is essentially about sending seniors off and MMC produced a video that remembered them for all their accomplishments and their legacy to the Harker School,” Shay said. “This year, we’re going to just produce another one. We’ll talk to students from all the classes including seniors and teachers just to investigate what they think their class meant to the school and what they gave.”

MMC also plans on filming a video for Spirit Club to promote spirit week.
