Mini Notebooks:
Inspired by conversation hearts, mini notebooks are an easy and lovable gift for friends, family, and even that special someone.
Supplies:
1. Kraft Paper
2. Index cards (tip: use colored cards)
3. Stapler or sewing machine
4. Clothespins
5. Pencils
Directions:
1. Using a word processing program, divide a blank document into four even sections. In each of the four sections, write a short message (suggestions: “write me”, “be mine”, “write about me”, etc).
2. Take three index cards and fold them in half carefully using a straightedge (if you want to be extra precise, measure the cards and trim the Kraft paper accordingly). Repeat for the Kraft paper covers.
3. Line the cards up inside the cover (optional: trim the bottom of the cover to resemble a little book).
4. Staple the crease with the metal hooks on the inside, or if you are using a sewing machine, sew down the crease with a long stitch length.
5. Decorate the cover and use a clothespin to hold a pencil inside and keep the pages closed.
Scrabble Tiles Coasters:
Reuse old Scrabble tiles by gluing them together into these easy-to-make coasters.
Supplies:
1. Foam (measure it to the area of a four or five scrabble tile-length square, depending on your words)
2. Old scrabble tiles
3. Super Glue (tip: use Gorilla Glue or a hot glue gun.)
Directions:
1. Use the Scrabble tiles to form four or five letter words; you can also use blank spaces if necessary. Remember that your coaster should form a square (same number of tiles as the length and the width).
2. If you have not done so already, measure the length and width and trim the foam accordingly.
3. Carefully glue the scrabble tiles in order onto the foam square.
Heart Favor Box:
Using a small piece of colored paper, some scissors, and glue, you can create a charming little origami-inspired box. Fill the box with candies, a small note, or even jewelry.
Supplies:
1. Using the following template, trace and carefully cut out from a piece of cardstock or construction paper.
2. Fold up the top and bottom edges along the designated lines according to the template. Remember to fold in the tab on the side.
3. After folding it, the paper should now be in a box-like shape. With a glue stick, secure the bottom flaps together, along with the side tab.
4. Once inserting your gift (heart-shaped candies or a small USB drive with a mix tape on it among others) slide the two heart pieces together.
