This week featured Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering (STEM) clubs on campus as they worked together to fundraise for various causes and concluded with the Dance Production. Head of School Christopher Nikoloff also held the second installment of his annual lecture series.
“I can’t pick out one highlight except perhaps the culmination of the Dance Production, which involves so many people,” Butch Keller said. “STEM week has been fun because again, any time I can see the students excited, it’s always a good thing. The third thing I’d like to highlight this week is Mr. Nikoloff’s lectures. Any time students have the opportunity to listen to the wisdom that he can impart to them, it’s always a positive thing.”
STEM clubs ran spirit competitions and informational activities on campus related to branches of STEM throughout the week, including Quiz Bowl trivia contests and video gaming events. Members of STEM clubs also sold sweatshirts and baked goods during lunch and after school to raise money. Each grade chose an organization, either on the local or international level, to support with the money raised during the week.
Head of School Christopher Nikoloff held the second speech of the year for his lecture series centered around the theme of leadership during long lunch on Wednesday, January 30 in the Nichols Auditorium. This week’s lecture was based on selflessness and the role it plays in leaders. The third installment of the series will take place on Wednesday, February 6.
The week ended with the annual Dance Production on Friday, February 1, and Saturday, February 2. This year’s theme was Elements of Dance and featured routines inspired by air, wind, water, and fire. Directed by Karl Kuehn and Amalia De La Rosa, the performance featured 130 student and faculty dancers as well as five student choreographers.
More events to look forward to next week include updates on spring sports.
