Bringing together student performers from all three campuses, the annual holiday show was held this Friday in the gym.
Each year, the show acts as a celebration of the approaching holiday season. The assembly brought smiles to the faces of many in the audience as students and teachers were entertained by the various groups of performers.
The Upper School orchestra opened the show with a rendition of the soundtrack of Home Alone 2, which set the stage for an afternoon of holiday spirit. The final performance of the afternoon was the Lower School’s Dance Fusion, whose members were joined by other performers to bid the audience a happy holiday season.
Downbeat, one of the Upper School choirs, put an unconventional spin on a classic Christmas carol that drew much laughter from the audience.
“[I] really liked the holiday performance, and really enjoyed Downbeat […] because their performance was creative,” Anika Mohindra (9) said.
During the time in between performances, the emcees, a member of downbeat who partnered with a lower or middle student, provided jokes and antics which helped to tie the entire show together.
Other performances included the JV and Varsity dance teams as well as Cantilena, Camarata, Middle School Harmonics, the Lower School choir, and Showstoppers.
“I thought that the show had a lot of spirit,” Pooja Chirala (11) said. “The dances were very energetic and the singing, especially the Christmas songs, were very exciting; it made me want to sing along.”
The holiday show served as the last school assembly before winter break, which starts on Wednesday, December 19.
