Review: Soundtrack of Breaking Dawn Part 2 blends well with plotline- 5/5 stars
With the end of the Twilight saga inching closer, the soundtrack of Breaking Dawn Part 2 was released on November 13.
Previous Twilight soundtracks included songs produced by artists such as Christina Perri and Bruno Mars which became world wide hits.
The new album relates to the plotline more than all of the previous records made for the Twilight movies. Because Breaking Dawn Part 2 is the last movie of the saga, the indie styles portray the scenes of the book in a modern way while still keeping the story in mind.
Featuring various artists, the album consists of 14 songs that each represent a part of the story of Breaking Dawn.
In the first part of Breaking Dawn, Christina Perri released “A Thousand Years”, which later became an international hit. For the second part of the movie, Perri collaborated with Steve Kazee in “A Thousand Years Part 2.” Although the song keeps the same tune as her previous version, the harmonies add a special effect. The song is the most popular out of the whole album on iTunes.
POP ETC, a band from California, released its song “Speak Up” for the Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack. Incorporating a series of techno sounds as well as impressive vocals, the song represents the complications of the relationships in the movie.
Artists like Ellie Goulding and Feist also sang for the soundtrack. Feist, a Canadian artist, is part of an indie-rock band as well. The melodious vocals in her song, “Fire in the Water”, reminds the listeners of Bella and Edward’s relationship.
Another punk band, Green Day, sings “The Forgotten” for the album. Their song includes a softer tone with the use of drum beats, instead of electric guitar solos which are normally in their other tracks.
Setting itself aside from the past albums, the Breaking Dawn Part 2 album exceeds all expectations due to its mix of indie and pop songs, which relate to the story of the books perfectly. As the last installment of the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn Part 2 is to be released in theaters on November 16.
