Love was in the air on Thursday, February 9, when Student Council members passed out roses, chocolates, and personalized notes to students during advisory. For the last few weeks, the Student Council has sold Valentine’s Day grams during lunches.
Students could choose to buy red roses, yellow roses, and See’s chocolates. A personalized message was attached to each rose. The grams were bought for boyfriends, girlfriends, friends, teachers, and advisors.
“I thought it was really nice that [my friends] went out of their way to buy me flowers and chocolates,” said Angeline Pan (9) who received fourteen roses and four boxes of chocolates.
Those who sent roses felt that it was a romantic gesture or expression of friendship in honor of Valentine’s Day. Sophomore Kevin Xue bought a rose for his girlfriend because “it’s Valentine’s Day; it’s the right thing to do.”
Members of Student Council were pleased with the turnout of the event and hopes to continue the tradition next year.
“Things we could work on were better organization, but having done it this year, we’re ready for next year because we know all the pitfalls and peaks of this event,” says Kevin Lin (11), ASB treasurer who was in charge of the event.
