On Wednesday February 1, the girls and boys soccer teams hosted the third annual Kicks Against Cancer fundraiser. The girls played Immaculate Conception Academy, winning 7-0; the boys competed against Eastside College Prep, winning 2-1. Faculty and staff donated a total of $1100 for the goals scored. Additionally, the boys team raised $200 for each save by goalie Sumit Minocha (11).
Halftime events included raffle prizes, cheerleading, Pep Band performances, and “Butts-Up.” All proceeds from the Kicks Against Cancer fundraising will send the familes of Ethan Marley, Zach Argao, and Johnathan Seepersad to Camp Okizu this year.
“I think it was really meaningful to the team members and to see everyone from our community come together and support not only the Okizu families, but also the soccer families. It was really rewarding for us; […] Mr. Argao, whose son Zach was one of the kids we honored, said that it was truly a blessing to not only come and have fun and watch soccer, but also to be a part of the event. For me, his comments were really special,” team captain Nicole Dalal (12) said.
