On Tuesday, January 17, the Varsity Boys’ basketball team defeated league rival The Kings Academy 62 – 58 in overtime.
Highlights of the evening’s game include junior Nikhil Panu’s three consecutive three-pointers, the last of which was at the buzzer, to tie the score and send the game into overtime.
“Yesterday’s game was possibly the most exciting game I have ever been a part of,” Nikhil said. “We had some solid stretches throughout the game, but there were also times where we struggled.”
The Eagles held the lead during much of the first two quarters, but began to trail during the second half. During the last minute of the fourth quarter, a combination of their strong offense and the opposing team’s turnovers lead them to victory in the overtime.
“In overtime, everyone stepped up when they needed to, hitting key shots and free throws. Getting the win in the end after all that was incredible,” Nikhil said.
This Friday night at 6 p.m., the boys will host Pinewood, currently ranked first in the league.
