On Friday, January 6, the varsity boys soccer team lost its league game against Sacred Heart Prep 0-1.
With the loss, the team’s current record stands at 3-2-1.
Head Coach Shaun Tsakiris states that he was proud of his team’s efforts, especially since he considers Sacred Heart “the best team in the league—they’re successful every season.”
“We had four to five freshmen on the field at one time; we have a young team. And we only lost 1-0,” Tsakiris said. “I think there are a lot of positives to take away as a result. There [were] a lot of good things I saw that I’d like to build on and I think if we correct our mistakes we’ll be a pretty strong team.”
Although the players were disappointed with the results, they said the results bolstered their determination to improve for the next game.
“This is probably the best we’ve played against Sacred Heart and we should’ve ended up with more than a loss,” Proteek Biswas (12) said. “We worked really hard, so we can be proud of that at least.”
The team will play against Eastside College Prep on Davis Field next week, January 11.
