Red Cross Club and Harker UNICEF promoted different causes by organizing fundraisers throughout their joint club week this week.

Red Cross Club collaborated with the American Red Cross organization to host a blood drive for students and staff over the age of 16 on Monday. In total, 35 participants each donated approximately one pint of blood.

During long lunch on Wednesday, Red Cross Club sold Tpumps bubble tea for six dollars and 10 dollar AMC movie bundles, which included one movie ticket, one small drink and one small popcorn.

On Friday, the club sold Tpumps bubble tea and brownies and also gave away free Fisher House merchandise.

“The fundraiser money is going to the Fisher House organization,” Red Cross Club president Abha Patkar (12) said. “They’re a non-profit that houses veterans’ families while they have a service member undergoing treatment at the veteran hospital.”

Red Cross Club officers Andrea Simonian (11) and Abha Patkar (12) sell boba from Teaspoon outside Manzanita. This week, Harker UNICEF also sold boba to raise money to support the Syrian refugee crisis.

Harker UNICEF raised money to support the Syrian refugee crisis by selling TeaTop bubble tea and cookies on Tuesday and Friday after school.

“Our club’s work specifically is important because we really want to impact not only our community, but the global community as well,” Harker UNICEF president Andrew Chang (11) said. “We are trying to move on to a more broad spectrum, and we want to raise money for more worldwide causes.”

There will be no club week next week due to final exams.
