The Seniors placed first for Homecoming week, while the Freshman came in second, the Sophomores third, and the Juniors fourth.
After much anticipation, the results were announced during Monday’s school meeting by the co-presidents of Spirit Club, Michelle Lo (12) and Karen Wang (12). The Senior Class of 2012 was then presented with a trophy, signifying their victory over the other classes.
The seniors prevailed not only in the overall standings, but also in the Tug-of War, in which the junior class finished second, followed by the sophomores in third, and the freshmen in last place.
“I expect greatness, nothing less [from our class],” Gerry Glasauer (12) said following the announcement.
Events that contributed to the overall scores included candy pass, class dress-up days, the Panoply of Chaos parade, class floats, and the skit during the rally.
The second place ranking was a surprise for the Freshmen, as in the past they have been beaten by the sophomores and juniors.
Eric Holt (9) said “ I was really happy that my class got second place because, usually, we lose everything.”
On the other hand, it was a defeat for the Juniors of 2013, who placed last overall.
“I hope that next year as Seniors we come first and show everyone what we got,” said Preeya Mehta (11).
Yet, many of the upper school students were glad to have participated in the activities, whether or not their class won.
“Last week was really fun even though [the sophomore] class didn’t do as well as I would have hoped. But, I’m still glad that we beat the juniors,” said Samir Baz (10).
Homecoming Week united the classes as they painted, crafted, dressed, acted, and competed in the race for Spirit Points and the first place trophy.
