Student council announces end of new breakfast bar option

In response to requests for a morning breakfast option, the ASB and Breakfast Committee created a breakfast bar for student use. Members of both student council and ASB, as well as chefs from the kitchen staff, started a two-week trial period of the policy before canceling it due to a lack of student interest.

Representatives of student council announced at yesterday’s school meetings their decision to stop selling breakfast items to students through the morning breakfast bar option.

Results following the policy’s two-week trial period revealed that while students had expressed interest in a morning breakfast option prior to the institution of the bar, only a minority of students actually used the service to purchase food on campus before the first class of the day.

Student council plans to send out a survey to students asking for feedback on the breakfast bar plan and suggestions for future plans for campus food options.

Student council and ASB representatives announced the creation of a new breakfast bar for student use before school at class meeting today.

The bar will offer cereal, Pop Tarts, orange juice, Cup Noodles and waffles from 7:20 to 7:50 a.m.

“We saw a growing trend in students grabbing food in the morning before class started, and a lot of the food that they grabbed was actually food for teachers,” sophomore council president Kelsey Wu said. “Because of this, we thought that initiating a breakfast program would provide for this need and supply food for the students.”

Starting next week, student council and ASB will first initiate a two-week trial period for the breakfast bar before holding another meeting to discuss possible changes to the policy.
