During lunch on Wednesday, September 7, students convened in the Upper School gymnasium for the annual Club Fair.
“The club fair benefits the students because they’re all student-run clubs. Kids have the opportunity to do something that they’re passionate about,” said Kerry Enzensperger, Director of Community Service. “Sign-ups were phenomenal.”
This year, the fair consisted of 40 registered and widely varying clubs, ranging from Research to Business and Entrepreneurship. Each club set up a booth with information about themselves to scout out new members.
“Future Problem Solving’s main goal for the Club Fair this year was to get more people to sign up for scenario writing and spread more awareness about the club,” said Joy Li (11), an officer for the Future Problem Solving (FPS) club.
Additionally, clubs were allowed to feature props in their set-up to interest new members. The Robotics club set up a functioning robot on the gym stage, while the Harker Improvisation Troupe (HIT) had live actors performing.
“In previous years, Quiz Bowl has never really had a lot of visibility. We were never really officially a club- we never had a table. This year we have a table, so we’re really trying to get our name out there,” said Max Isenberg (12), Co-Captain of the Quiz Bowl club.
Freshman Savi Joshi said, “[The Club Fair] has been really good. There are a lot of really fun people here trying to scout for their clubs, and there are a lot of interesting clubs, all the way from the Programming to Red Cross.”
