Epic Bay Area storm, largest since 2009, reaches the Upper School campus.

Imagine sitting in a classroom with the unbearable feeling of wet clothes, trying to concentrate on the lecture. By running through the rain, students become drenched in rain, with their clothes clinging to their bodies.

With today’s storm, students rarely stayed dry during the passing period.

Around campus, colorful umbrellas opened, blocking students from most of the rain. Some even shared umbrellas with fellow students to shelter them from the rain. The majority of students wear a hooded raincoat to keep their heads safe from the storm.

Others did not mind the rain, no matter how strong it was.

“Personally, if it’s raining his hard, then I don’t care because I don’t see any point in avoiding the rain because I’m going to get wet, but if I do, I go through Main [Hall],” Anushka Das (12) said.

Other students, like Haley Tran (10) and Victor Shin (9) also said they would walk through Main Hall to avoid most of the rain.

Students and teachers provide suggestions to stay out of the rain.

“Wear lots of rain jackets,” Haley said. “Bring an umbrella, because it’s usually helpful because I know a lot of people go under their friends’ umbrellas. Or even it’s not really the shortest way, don’t go through the rain, go through buildings because in the end, you want to stay dry.”

Dr. Lola Muldrew, a math teacher, suggests to bring an umbrella for coverage and a trash bag in order to cover backpacks. She also believes a towel is useful and could be worn “like a toga.” Muldrew also suggests to run quickly to classes to stay away from the rain.
