The Varsity boys’ basketball team has a record of 11-6 and will continue its season with a game against Menlo School on February 1.
On January 25, the team had a home game and lost against Sacred Heart Preparatory School, with a score of 38-54. The boys had an additional three losses against Pinewood School, King’s Academy, and Crystal Springs Uplands with the respective scores of 50-56, 53-57, and 33-36.
However, the team won two games in a row against Menlo School and Eastside College Prep on January 7 and January 4 with the scores of 61-57 and 45-31, respectively.
“We’ve been working really hard and it could be better than that,” team co-captain Nikhil Panu (10) said. “I think we will learn from the losses and turn it around.”
Over the winter break, the team traveled to attend the Phoenix Hoop Classic Cactus Jam and had two victories and one loss. The boys played against St. Albert High School from Canada on December 30, Bolsa Grande High School on December 28, and Colony High School from Alaska on December 27 with the respective scores of 56-37, 53-50, and 47-58.
The team won another game against Monta Vista High School on December 21 with a score of 43-33. The boys hope to qualify for CCS in February.
