Class of 2014 revels in start of second semester

Seniors celebrated the start of the second semester by throwing candy amid cheering and hollers from the students at the end of the weekly school meeting this morning.

Members of the senior class council began their announcement with a fake club, reporting false accomplishments in various academic subjects from physics to botany in the hopes of drawing attention to the news. The end of the announcement cued the seniors to stand up and throw candy to the rest of the student body while the council played an upbeat song to add onto the celebration. Some seniors even began dancing to the beat.

According to senior class Secretary Adarsh Battu, recognizing the start of the second semester is just the beginning of the festivities planned for the rest of the semester.

“We know that our whole grade has really worked hard these last three years, so I really want them to enjoy this second semester,” he said. “The senior student council is going to make sure it’s the best year yet.”

Senior Class President Jithin Vellian warns seniors of the consequences of losing focus this semester.

“A lot of people think that second semester is a time to slack off but we all know that’s not the case,” he said. “It’s a time to get new experiences and to branch out and really enjoy ourselves since it’s our last time at Harker.”
