Jurassic Park blows audience’s mind again with 3D – 4.8/5 stars
May 5, 2013
The newly redefined IMAX 3D version of Jurassic Park has once again enthralled moviegoers with its remastered video and sound quality.
Following a freak raptor attack, the president of InGen, John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), expresses his confidence that such events would not happen again in his theme park. In order to demonstrate his reserve’s safety, he invites paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neil) and Dr Ellie Sadler (Laura Dern). Hammond’s grandchildren Lex and Tim (Ariana Richards and Joseph Mazello) tag along the team as they venture into the reservation inhabited by fierce dinosaurs.
The actors in the movie are skilled in their roles. Neil is excellent in his portrayal of Dr. Grant, giving his character an almost Indiana Jones feel through his fearless spirit. Some characters like Lex and Tim, however, drag the group down in its excursion and annoy the other characters as well as the audience with their constant whining. The children, nonetheless, play an important role by introducing a human element to the movie with their innocence.
The movie is a brilliant mixture of science fiction, horror, and adventure which overwhelms the audience with the sheer magnitude of the dinosaurs and technology applied to resurrect them. Scenes such as when Lex and Tim are stuck in a kitchen with raptors sends shivers down the spines of the audience, while other scenes such as the section with the grazing sauropods put the audience in total awe. The CGI is absolutely amazing, and the dinosaurs feel like living, breathing animals.
Jurassic Park is thoroughly enjoyable and engrossing. It is as mind-blowing as it was when it was released if not better. Spielberg is able to draw in the audience as though they were stepping in the prehistoric life that Hammond so wished to give.
