Girls’ varsity soccer loses to Sacred Heart Preparatory
The varsity girls’ soccer team lost 2-4 to Sacred Heart Prep on Davis Field today.
The first half concluded with a score of 2-3 with three goals for Sacred Heart Prep and two goals for the Eagles from Joelle Anderson (10). Sacred Heart Prep added one more goal in the middle of the second half.
“The game that we played today was against the top team in our league, and I think we put up a strong battle against them the entire game,” varsity player Anuva Mittal (10) said. “So for the next game, we just need to continue to play like today.”
The Eagles overall season record currently stands at 6-6-1 with a fifth in league ranking.
“We’re going to go out there, and we’re going to play the hardest that we can,” varsity player Sadhika Malladi (11) said prior to the game. “Sacred Heart Prep is a really good school, so I’m really looking forward to putting our skills to the test and seeing how we improved over the season.”
Several of the boys’ soccer players and students came out to watch the girls play today after school. During the first half, students expressed their belief that the Eagles could make a comeback despite the score being 1-2 in favor of Sacred Heart Prep.
“We’re down, but we’re definitely going to come back,” Lauren Napier (9) said. “Go Eagles!”
Varsity girls’ soccer next plays Woodside Priory on Thursday on Davis Field at 3:30 p.m. on its Senior Night.
