Protesters of the shooting of Michael Brown have now moved to St. Louis to lobby for change in federal and local law enforcement policy according to the Associated Press.

Ferguson, MO officer Darren Wilson shot the unarmed 18-year-old at least six times on Aug. 9, fueling the ongoing nationwide conversation of law enforcement ethics. Demonstrators in St. Louis currently advocate for the establishment of a civilian board in order to regulate and review the police force’s use of shooting and violence.

The subsequent turbulence in the city of Ferguson and the tensions that mounted between protesting civilians and the law enforcement on hand for crowd control led to donation drives for the memorial fund of Mike Brown as well as officer Darren Wilson.

Social media has driven the protest movement. Addition- al media hashtags have sprung up in defense of Mike Brown as well as Darren Wilson, including “#BlackLivesMatter,” “#IfTheyGunnedMeDown,” and “#IAmDarrenWilson.”
