School Meeting Recap – 3/10

Student council members talk to other students before beginning school meeting. Today’s school meeting featured announcements from numerous club in addition to a report on last week’s lunch grades.

Interact club will be serving frozen yogurt throughout this week as part of its club week. Proceeds will be donated towards supplying 5170 solar ovens to refugees in Afghanistan.

Junior State of America (JSA) will be attending the spring state convention, which includes activities such as debates, mock trials, and student-led thought talks. The convention will take place from April 4 to 6, and students can pick up attendance forms from JSA officers.

The Disability Awareness Program encourages students to end the usage of the word “retarded,” by replacing it with the word “respect.” The program is also looking for a new leader. If interested, contact Zina Jawadi (12) at [email protected] by March 24.

Students in Technology Student Association (TSA) attended their state conference two weeks ago and won awards in numerous categories such as biotechnology, architecture, graphic design, engineering, and public speaking.

CareerConnect is offering a mentorship that partners sophomores and juniors with professionals in students’ fields of interest. The kickoff banquet will take place on April 15.

Eagle Update: Freshman Niki Iyer won the 3200-meter run at the K-Bell Invitational on Saturday, March 8. The track team will continue its season on March 15 at the St. Francis Invitational. Boys’ basketball placed second in the CCS finals after losing 38-47 to Sacred Heart Preparatory on March 8. The team will compete in the Northern California playoffs Wednesday at 7 p.m. against St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School.

Student council also reported the lunch grades from last week. If students earn a C any day this week, desserts and the Mexican food station will be removed for a day.
